Minnesota based artist Jaana Mattson started Applied Arts Studio in 2004 when she began using stained glass techniques to work with her studio full of found objects. Her education and background in fibers, craft media and interactive mixed-media sculpture provides her a solid background for her continued exploration and innovation in wearable forms.
Jaana’s work represents her lifelong fascination with the everyday histories and mysteries of found materials. Objects hold meaning and memory and through wearable art jewelry these materials and images are honored , drawing attention to the often -overlooked details of nature and culture. Earring Girl loves her lace pieces and can feel that they are made with love and respect!
