Special Vintage Earrings from Applied Arts Studio! These earrings feature antique lace pieces set under hand-cut art glass and finished with oxidized silver solder using a copper foil technique. They are accented by white moonstone beads. The contrast of the white lace and the dark frame really make these stand out.
These lightweight earrings hang 2 inches from the ear including the oxidized sterling silver ball-end French earwires and are ½ inch wide.
From local estate sales to foreign flea markets, lace embodies history, complexity and beauty. The fine handwork of unknown women, whose patterns and decorative motifs were created one thread at a time generations ago is often overlooked at the bottom of a scrap basket. These pieces honor the skill and craft that went into these small works of art.
The antique and vintage textiles Jaana works sith are often partial pieces of salvaged trim, collars, doilies, etc. Techniques range from bobbin lace, and needle-run embroidery to drawn work and more. For this reason these earrings are limited editions and may not be available again.
