Custom made for Earring Girl by Denise Jenkins! These ammonite and Chrysacolla stones are hand cut and set in sterling silver. Both the stones and ammonites have amazing markings, and The blue and brown colors compliment each other perfectly. These post earrings are one of a kind due to the materials and the artist’s hand. Signed by the artist.
This pair hangs 1 1/8inches from the ear. The body of the earing is ½ inch wide. The silver linear part of the design sticks out to 7/8ths of an inch.
Ammonites are an extinct group of marine animals and are the most widely known fossil; they are cephalopods and first appeared in the seas 415 million years ago.
The Navajo and Indians of the North American Plains carried ammonites in their medicine bags for health and good hunting. They called the ammonites buffalo stones because of their resemblance to the North American bison.
Because of its light color, Chrysacolla is sometimes confused with turquoise. Commonly it occurs only as porous crusts unsuitable for gem use, but high quality, gem grade Chrysocolla can be translucent and is highly prized.
Chrysacolla like turquoise can be beneficial to opening the throat chakra (fifth chakra) which is associated with the color blue. The throat chakra is also associated with the faculty of higher discrimination, between choosing what is right and wrong, and it is associated with creativity and self-expression.
The throat chakra is a transmitter of truth, freedom, and clarity. It is located in the throat and neck region of the body and extends upward to include the lower region of the brain or cortex. This area of the physical body holds the communication center, and the gateway to inner and outer worlds
